1. The Lexington Surgery Center provides the low cost yet high quality benefit an ASC (ambulatory surgery center) can provide. Since we specialize in only outpatient surgery, we can keep the cost lower and pass the savings on to the patient. This chart shows the average cost savings to the patient for each specialty by choosing an ASC vs. the HOPD (hospital outpatient department)
2. In general, ASC’s cater to a healthier patient population, whereas, acute and sicker patients are typically seen in an inpatient hospital setting. Moreover, your elective surgery may be delayed or canceled in the hospital because of an emergency surgery taking precendence over your surgery or procedure. Lastly, the nurse to patient ratio is higher in an ASC which results in, for you, a better scope of care.
